All drum dryers are built upon established Koenig & Bauer MetalPrint drying technology, available in multiple-row, double-tunnel, or wicket oven configurations.
- Multi-Row Ovens: Tailored for spray-coated or lined drums, intermediate drums, or pails in 1- to 4-row designs
- Double-Tunnel Ovens: Designed for simultaneous curing of drums lined on the inside and coated on the outside
- Wicket Ovens: Adapted for drum ends, featuring integrated air purification for solvent-based applications
- Thermal Exhaust Air Purification System: Integrated system that routes solvent-laden air into the combustion chamber to reduce gas consumption in the inline drying process compared to installations operating without or with external air purification
Customised heating
Depending on coating type and capacity, ovens feature single or multi-zone heating units engineered for tight temperature tolerances. Specialised nozzles inject ot air into the drying tunnel, generating high air circulation within the chamber. This airflow improves thermal heat transfer to the substrate, allowing precise modulation and control of electrical heating loads during production cycles.
AirFlow Clean further optimises air distribution. The double-walled construction promotes uniform temperatures on tunnel walls and baffle plates. This results in a more homogeneous heat distribution while minimising contamination risks within the oven compared to single-walled designs. For maintenance, the plates are quickly removable for easy cleaning.
Demand-oriented cooling
Effective cooling is essential for exterior-coated drums to safeguard against internal vacuum formation during downstream filling. Koenig & Bauer MetalPrint offers single- and multi-stage cooling zones with high air circulation. Cooling sequences and parameters are configured according to local climatic conditions to support structural product integrity during handling and filling processes.
